On 23 January and 17 February 2016, the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) conducted two feedback sessions on the provision of education and healthcare services for persons with disabilities in Singapore. These sessions were held at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Singapore (MDAS) and DPA’s offices. The purpose was to gain insights into the issues persons with disabilities face when accessing healthcare and educations services and to collect primary data for two information booklets on the education and healthcare sector.
A total of 37 people attended the feedback sessions. They were disability professionals, persons with disabilities, parents and caregivers of persons with disabilities, and volunteers. DPA would like to thank all participants for taking the time to share their expertise and experiences with us. Their responses are important in providing a complete and useful data on the project as well as contributing to the larger goal of helping meet the educational and healthcare needs of persons with disabilities.
DPA will curate their feedback into a write up, and send it to all participants for their perusal and comments. Our findings will eventually be collated in a couple of new publications. These publications are part of a series about what it means to be inclusive in Singapore. You can find such publications (including those based on past feedback sessions on Transport and Employment) here.
If you missed the session and would like to give feedback, please contact Ms Jorain Ng at [email protected] or 6791 1134. There are online surveys for persons with disabilities, disability professionals, families and caregivers of persons with disabilities to share their experiences.
