Back for its second year, ‘DPA celebrates’ is all about the spirit of giving and how you can support the work that DPA does to build a more inclusive Singapore.
Gifts have superpowers – in the intentions behind them and how they can have a magical effect on the lives of those receiving them, no matter how big or small they may be.
Come join us as ‘ DPA celebrates ‘ empowerment, inclusivity, accessibility and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) through the power of giving. For five weeks, we aim to raise funds through a variety of workshops and initiatives and with your support, we can continue on our mission to provide a platform for disabled voices and break down the discriminatory barriers that the disability community face. ‘DPA Celebrates’ builds awareness around disability and encourages the public to acquire the important skill of getting to know people who may be different from them, and equipping and empowering them to take an inclusive approach back to their respective communities and continue being advocates for change beyond this festive season.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) is a United Nations convention outlining internationally-agreed standards on disability rights.
While to some, the UN and its processes may seem abstract and disconnected from what is happening on the ground in Singapore, in reality, there are many aspects of the UNCRPD that have a tangible impact on what is happening here. Two advocates with disabilities, Max Soh and Wesley Loh, will explore the relevance of the CRPD to the local disability community and what you can do to make a difference in the work of enhancing disability rights in Singapore.
Max is DPA’ Research and Policy Manager and he will share some of the takeaways from the experience of presenting to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the current state of disability rights in Singapore in light of the UN CRPD. Join us over Zoom on Thursday, 15 December 2022 8:00 PM – 8:30 PM for a frank discussion about why we think the CRPD matters in Singapore and how you can get involved with the work of DPA in the UN CRPD process.

Together with our DPA Inclusion Ambassador, this in-person workshop will teach you the fundamentals of creating your very own Christmas bauble.
Join us as we show you step-by-step tips and tricks to create your floral bauble to display for the upcoming festive period, or let it be an everyday decor in your home for a touch of rustic.
All proceeds raised from this workshop will go towards our continued efforts within the disability community.
