Organised in collaboration with the US Embassy in Singapore, the Disabled People’s Association welcomed prolific human rights advocate Ms Haben Girma for a session that saw an incredible turnout. From disability advocates, to representatives of MNCs, the evening started off on an exciting note with Ms Girma talking about how she became the first deafblind person to graduate from Harvard, and then went on to become a White House Champion of Change. She also received the Helen Keller Achievement Award, and a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30. Ms Girma also discussed how organizations that choose to invest in disability inclusion gain access to a larger audience, provide a better experience for both disabled and nondisabled members, and facilitate growth and innovation. The session concluded with an interesting Q&A session where individuals posed questions to Haben by typing it into her text-to-braille system. DPA would also like to thank Crunchy Teeth, and Dignity Kitchen for providing delicious snacks at the event!
