Social Service Research Network 2016

On 16 February 2016, the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) attended the Social Service Research Network (SSRN) at the Lifelong Learning Institute. The event was jointly organised by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and the National Council of Social Services (NCSS).

The theme for this year’s event was “Transforming Research into Solutions.” The event brought together representatives from academic and private institutions, research centres and voluntary welfare organisations who shared their thoughts and experiences on how research findings can be translated to actionable insights with implications for policy and practice. DPA was glad to see academics, practitioners and policymakers coming together to discuss the importance of research in policy development. As an advocacy organisation, DPA has always called for more practice research to be done either through collaborations with academics or by practitioners themselves to improve disability services. DPA has learned a lot from this symposium and would like to commend IPS and NCSS for organising this educational and insightful event.
