Purple Parade 2018

Disabled People’s Association (DPA) has been celebrating the Purple Parade ever since the first one was held in 2013 at Hong Lim Park. Every year DPA brings together a sizeable contingent of its members to march at the Parade, but this year the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) invited DPA to march with them and other partners. DPA will be working with BCA on an exciting mapping project in the Central Business District so it made perfect sense to join our friends at Suntec City on 27 November 2018.

BCA was joined by some representatives from DPA including our Inclusion Ambassadors Navin Nair, Janet Tay, Sanjeevan Balan and Raymond Lee, who also took beautiful photos that you can see DPA’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pg/DisabledPeoplesAssociation/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1866343560152034. DPA Board of Management members, DPA Hon. Secretary Chang-Tang Siew Ngoh and Dawn-Joy Leong, also came along and were joined by the Executive Director, Marissa Medjeral-Mills. DPA Vice-President, Peggy Yee, attended the Purple Parade concert to make sure that DPA was represented at all the major happenings of the Parade. More than 10,000 people were at the Purple Parade this year including 4,200 taking part in the contingent march and 218 partner organisations supporting the event.

DPA would like to thank BCA, including the Universal Design team, for inviting us to be part of the BCA and partners contingent and we look forward to partnering with BCA again soon.
