Inclusion Fundamentals is a one-day workshop designed to provide participants basic guiding principles in understanding the diverse needs of people with disabilities and how these needs can be met with flexibilities and adjustments. We are delighted that two more sessions of Inclusion Fundamentals were successfully held on 22 October and 26 November 2013 respectively.
Ten people from the following organisations attended these two sessions:
- AIG
- Maybank
- Society for the Physically Disabled
- The Singapore Association for the Deaf
- Xpressflower.com Pte Ltd
Similar to previous sessions, the participants found the workshop useful. 60% of the participants rated their overall assessment of the workshop as ‘good’ and 40% rated ‘very good’.
The elements that the participants most enjoyed were:
“Identifying barriers within my own organisation”
“Legislation overview/group discussion.”
“Sharing on UN Convention”
“My Precious’ – ice breaker”
“Teamwork to discuss on any inclusion for PWD & Deaf”
“Evaluating the barriers and possible solutions within our own organisation”
“The insights given by the speaker. It gave me more ideas that I can implement within our organisation.”
Since May 2013, 37 people from 22 different organisations have attended Inclusion Fundamentals workshop. The responses from participants have been positively encouraging.
We are only planning two more sessions of Inclusion Fundamentals scheduled for Wednesday 19 February and Tuesday 18 March 2014 at DPA’s office. Please book early if you do not want to miss out on an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of inclusion and how it can be applied in our society.
Please also look out for further information about a gathering/sharing session in April 2014 for all Inclusion Fundamentals attendees. Moreover, we are developing a one-off training session for trainers to take place in May to enable individuals to design and deliver their own diversity and inclusion workshops.
