The Disabled People’s Association (DPA) 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Wednesday, 9 September 2015. Members came early to enjoy a pre-AGM buffet dinner and mingling session. A total of 39 people attended the AGM, including DPA staff, members, institutional members, one volunteer and one sign-language interpreter. DPA was especially honoured to have Mr Ron Chandran-Dudley, the founder of both DPA and Disabled People’s International, attend the AGM. There were enough DPA members present to satisfy the quorum requirements.
Before the meeting started, a group of students from Temasek Junior College handed over the money raised from their school-based event called the Purple Fiesta to DPA’s President, Mr Nicholas Aw Wee Chong. The total money raised was $3964.56. DPA thanks Temasek Junior College for their hard work and effort, and for choosing DPA to be their beneficiary. The funds will help to support DPA’s advocacy initiatives.
At 7.28 pm, DPA’s Honorary Secretary, Mrs Chang Siew Ngoh, called the meeting to order. Mr Nicholas Aw first briefed the members on DPA’s achievements over the last financial year as well as a preview into what DPA would be focusing in the future. Afterwards, the office bearers and members confirmed the minutes of the 27th AGM 2014, adopted the Annual Report and Audited Statement of Accounts for 2014-2015, and proposed the appointment of Verity Partners as DPA’s auditors. At 8 pm, the meeting ended with a lucky dip and four happy members walked away with NTUC vouchers.
