From 16 September to 18 September 2015, the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) attended the China-ASEAN Disability Forum at Nanning, China. The event was jointly organised by the Disabled Persons’ Federation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Secretariat of China-ASEAN Expo, and sponsored by China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The forum was a high-level platform of exchange in the disability field between representatives from China and ASEAN member states. They were delegates from the Government and disability-oriented non-governmental organisations.
At the forum, there was an exhibition of assistive technology and a talent show featuring the performances of persons with disabilities. Afterwards, various Government officials from China and ASEAN member states addressed varied topics ranging from how their countries have helped persons with disabilities to participate in the community to how China and ASEAN can collaborate on disability issues. DPA was happy to be part of this forum and thanks the organisers and sponsors of the China-ASEAN Disability Forum for including DPA in this event.
