Youth Got Heart 2009 is an initiative by Raffles Institution (Junior College) Interact Club with the support of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Interact Club which aims to expose youths across the nation to the various types of community service and service learning.
The event provided a platform and opportunity for the establishment of sustained partnerships between the Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) of Singapore and youths who were interested in providing their service to the community. Through the interactive road show which showcases a myriad of VWOs, coupled with interesting performances and talks, it was hoped that the meaningful purpose of volunteerism can be brought across to students as well as the members of the public.
The objectives of this event were:
- To establish communication between the VWO and volunteers, which will continue even after the event
- To further spark the volunteers’s interest and passion for service by facilitating discussions and sharing online
- To ultimately ensure that the VWO has a sustainable supply of volunteers which it can tap for support in the long run
