Smile for a Mile Project

The Smile for a Mile Project was a five-day jogging campaign organised by student volunteers from National Junior College, Swiss Cottage, Crescent Girls and Nanyang Girls to:

  1. Support the integration of the physically disabled into society;
  2. Heighten the awareness of the limitations of the physically disabled; and,
  3. Bridge the difference between the physically disabled and the able-bodied.

It also aimed to raise awareness of DPA so as to ensure the continunity of volunteerism to aid its causes.

The mass run was held on 29 July 2007. Almost 200 volunteers signed up to run the 10-km course along the Singapore River. Donors not only provided financial support in the form of personal notes of encouragement to people with disabilities. This project raised a total amount of S$8,423.40.
