On 9th February 2019, DPA attended Cassandra Chiu’s book launch at Gateway Theatre. The book launch was a notable one as it’s the first one in Singapore to be released simultaneously in paperback, e-book, braille and digital braille, which is read on tactile tablets that create raised bumps via a pneumatic system. The book, highlights the challenges that Cassandra faced in her journey to advocacy, and was rather telling about inclusion (or lack thereof) in Singapore. From rude security staff, to unaware taxi drivers, Cassandra took us on a journey on how the road to inclusion and advocacy can be a treacherous one. Here’s DPA wishing her all the best in her future endeavours and working with her on her advocacy initiatives.
