This weekend, DPA was at the Kindness Flea Market as part of Siglap South CC’s Kindness Week. Kindness Week is an annual outreach campaign by Siglap South CC Youth Executive Committee (“SSCC YEC”) to raise awareness of various causes. A wide range of exciting and meaningful events will take place for a week.
Some of the past initiatives include recycling campaigns, food donation drives and a social media campaign “Pillars of SG” which feature the stories of unsung heroes in Singapore. Notably, 1.8 million can tabs were collected during Kindness Week 2013 to be recycled to produce more than 600 pairs of prosthetic legs. Siglap South CC YEC holds the record of Largest Logo Made Of Can Tabs in the Singapore Book of Records.
The theme of Kindness Week 2017 is “Embracing Our Differences”. As the name suggests, the objective of the event is for Singaporeans to embrace differences among us and raise awareness of the different special needs communities, in being a more inclusive society. The events took place from 20th May 2017 to 28th May 2017.
DPA also managed to meet other organisations, and looks forward to working with them to bring you more exciting workshops and programmes!
