The Purple Parade celebrations for 2014 and it is back bigger and stronger than ever before.
For the first time in Singapore, on 30 November 2013, more than 4500 people got together at Hong Lim Park to send a strong message to the rest of Singapore. Disability organisations called for Singapore to further Support Inclusion and Celebrate Abilities of persons with special needs. 40 organisations participated in this wonderful event. Purple Parade 2013 also set a national record for the largest number of pledges from more than 7,300 people in support of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Last year, Disabled People’s Association (DPA) celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with other disability organisations to raise awareness about the Voluntary Welfare Services available at Jurong Point Shopping Centre. It is for that reason that DPA was unable to join in the Purple Parade celebrations. This year, DPA wants to reunite with its fellow disability organisations at the Purple Parade and asks all its members to be part of the event. We would love for as many DPA members as possible to be part of the DPA contingent that will be part of the parade on the day. Friends, family, partners, volunteers and donors are more than welcome to join us. The more the merrier! Once you sign up for the event we will share more details about exactly how we will participate in the parade.
