WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
 

UNICEF www.unicef.org

UNICEF is an organization which forms part of the United Nations system. Its headquarters are in New York, but it is present in many countries of the world through its eight regional offices and 125 external offices. Activities are financed by voluntary contributions from governments, organizations, groups or individuals. Any contribution is important, helping UNICEF means helping children.

UNESCO was founded on 16 November 1945. For this specialized United Nations agency, it is not enough to build classrooms in devastated countries or to publish scientific breakthroughs. Education, Social and Natural Science, Culture and Communication are the means to a far more ambitious goal : to build peace in the minds of men.
